Incision #1 Review
Incision is a captivating blend of action, crime, and superhero genres that immediately grabs the reader’s attention. The story revolves around a protagonist with extraordinary strength and power, yet plagued by a complete lack of memory regarding his past and the origins of his abilities. The introduction of Jacks, individuals who have gained random powers after an event known as “The Hijack,” adds an intriguing sci-fi element to the narrative and also plays as a nod to superhero comics that see our heroes’ origin stories take flight.
The debut issue masterfully sets up the story, providing insight into the protagonist’s backstory through his inner monologue. He is portrayed as a mysterious, commanding figure, reluctantly serving as the muscle for a local crime boss. The use of dual narrative, alternating between Frank’s thoughts and the external dialogue, allows readers to forge a deep connection with the character at a fast pace, almost as if we are inside his head.

The artwork is a true highlight of Incision, consistently delivering vibrant and eye-catching illustrations that bring the landscapes to life. The sleek and clean designs enhance the world-building and the development of the compelling characters.
While some readers may find the world-building to be a slow burn, the glimpses of “The Hijack,” Frank’s enigmatic past, and the enticing final page reveal suggest a promising and rewarding storyline ahead. Incision successfully incorporates multiple elements and promises to evolve into an enthralling superhero series that should not be missed.

Overall, Incision’s debut issue successfully combines intriguing storytelling, stunning artwork, and a touch of sci-fi to create a unique and captivating reading experience. It sets the stage for an exciting journey into a world filled with mystery, action, and unexpected twists. Keep an eye out for this promising series.
