Hogwarts Legacy Finds its Headmaster in Simon Pegg
The Wizarding World has announced that Simon Pegg will voice Headmaster Black in Hogwarts Legacy. Fans will be familiar with the infamous Headmaster, Phineas Nigellus Black, whose portrait hangs in Dumbledore’s office. What you may not know is he is the great-great-grandfather of Sirius Black and he is the least popular Headmaster at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
While Headmaster Black is a descendant of Sirius Black, it seems that’s where their similarities end. According to Pegg, “he’s not noble, he’s not brave, he’s just a self-interested fool,” who will prove to be both a help and a hindrance to players working their way through the game
Pegg mentions that Phineas is there to “scupper the efforts of the player” and goes on to point out, “We saw Phineas in the books and in the films. He was a portrait in Dumbledore’s office, but this is at a time when he was actually actively the headmaster.”
Hogwarts Legacy also features voicework by Lesley Nicol as Professor Matilda Weasley, the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts, Kandace Caine as Professor Onai, a gifted Seer and Divination teacher, and Sohm Kapila as Professor Satyavati Shah, a teacher of Astronomy who is devoted to the sciences. The voice of Gryffindor Lee Jordan, Luke Youngblood, will be voicing Ravenclaw student Everett Clopton. Sebastian Croft and Amelia Gething provide voice options for the game’s playable avatar, while Jason Anthony voices Nearly Headless Nick and the Sorting Hat.
Hogwarts Legacy will be available on February 10, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will then be available on April 4 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on July 25.
