Gran Turismo Trailer Sees A Gamer Turned Race Car Driver’s Story Come to Life
Sony Pictures has released the Gran Turismotrailer which is based on PlayStation‘s popular simulation racing game of the same name. The film’s story will be based on a true story that saw a gamer turn into a professional race car driver. As we see Jann Mardenborough played by Archie Madekwe as he seeks to go pro by winning Sony and Nissan‘s GT Academy racing competition. Joining Madekwe will be David Harbour and Orlando Bloom who will also star in the film with Harbour portraying Mardenborough’s trainer Jack Salter and Bloom in the role of a sports marketing executive.
Mardenborough competed in Gran Turismo and defeated over 90k entrants which earned him the privilege of driving for Nissan at the Dubai twenty-hour race. He later went on to win multiple Nissan competitions and began his career as a professional race car driver.
The film also stars Geri Halliwell Horner, Djimon Hounsou, and Darren Barnet. The film is helmed by Neill Blomkamp from a script written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. Doug Belgrad, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan,and Dana Brunetti produced the film with Kazunori Yamauchi, Herman Hulst, Hall, and Matthew Hirsch executive producing.
