Golden Rage: The Golden Girls Meets Survival Combat in New Miniseries
Image Comics has announced Golden Rage. The new five-issue miniseries is set to combine the dynamics of the hit TV series The Golden Girls with the unforgiving combat of battle royale. The series comes from debut comics writer Chrissy Williams who previously worked as an editor on the hit series Die and The Wicked + The Divine. Williams is joined by artist Lauren Knight, colorist Sofie Dodgson, and editor Joamette Gil.
Image Comics‘ description of Golden Rage reads:
“In a world where older women who’ve been deemed useless to society are abandoned on an island, Golden Rage documents their golden years of making friends, baking dessert, and fighting to the death for survival.”
Williams talks about the flawless combination of cake and stabbing weapons in the press release, saying:
“Old women are formidable—I wrote Golden Rage to reflect that. These characters are tough, capable, kind, and funny. I’ve fallen in love with the combination of cake and stabbing weapons, and hope you will too.”
Knight adds:
“My brand is Angry Women and Golden Rage let me play around with characters we don’t get to see enough of in media. Read this if you’re looking for great examples on how to age disgracefully and for granny-on-granny violence with a gratuitous side helping of heart.”
