Gilbert Gottfried Passes Away Aged 67 After Long Illness
Legendary actor and comedian Gilbert Gottfried has passed away at the age of 67 after what is described by his family as a long illness. Gottfried’s family posted the following statement on social media regarding the passing of Gottfried:
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”
Gottfried was a beloved comedian and actor who often delivered hilarious rants. Having started his career on Saturday Night Live, Gottfried went on to appear in some of Hollywood’s biggest films such as Beverly Hills Cop 2, Problem Child, and lent his voice to what is now an iconic and irreplicable role of Iago in Disney‘s Aladdin. His career in both film and television spanned over forty years.
He most recently hosted his own podcast titled Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast where he had the opportunity to speak and interview celebrities and shared many stories from his career. He last spoke with Karina Longworth on the April 4th episode. Many tributes from around the entertainment industry have been coming in for the beloved actor including Jason Alexander, Lynda Carter, and Jon Stewart.
