First Look at Transformers #1 Revealed by Skybound
Skybound has unveiled the first look at Transformers #1. As the Energon Universe continues to make its way to fans. The collaboration with Hasbro sees a culmination of universes collide with the comics universe of Image Comics/Skybound, fans can expect an all-new era for the iconic franchises. The series is being crafted by Daniel Warren Johnson (known for Extremity, Do a Powerbomb, and DC’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth) and colored by Mike Spicer (Stillwater and Murder Falcon).
In Transformers #1, the fate of Cybertron is uncertain, and both Autobots and Decepticons find themselves stranded on Earth. As they renew their war, the planet will never be the same. Optimus Prime becomes humanity’s only hope for survival as new alliances are formed and battle lines are drawn. The first story arc will feature Autobots such as Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Cliffjumper, Arcee, and Wheeljack, while the Decepticons include Starscream, Rumble, Skywarp, Laserbeak, and Soundwave.
The cover art for Transformers #1 is absolutely stunning and includes main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, there are various variant covers also available. These include Autobot and Decepticon covers by Johnson and Spicer, a cover by artist Ryan Ottley (known for Invincible), a 1:10 incentive variant by Orlando Arocena, a 1:25 incentive variant by Cliff Chiang, a 1:50 incentive variant by Francis Manapul, a 1:100 incentive variant by Ian Bertram, and an open-to-order blank sketch cover.
The Energon Universe, which began in June 2023, brought the surprise appearance of Jetfire in Void Rivals #1. This marked the start of the collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, with Transformers and G.I. Joe comics finding their new home with Skybound. The universe will continue to expand with the release of Duke #1 in December, followed by Cobra Commander #1 in January 2024.
Transformers #1 will be available at your favorite local comic book shop and digitally on October 4th, 2023. Check out the first look below:
