First Look at Duke #2 Continues To Roll Out Skybound’s Energon Universe

Skybound and Hasbro have unveiled the first look at Duke #2. This upcoming issue, written by Joshua Williamson (known for DC’s Superman and Dark Ride), illustrated by Tom Reilly (famous for The Thing), and colored by Jordie Bellaire (renowned for W0rldtr33), promises to deliver an electrifying follow-up to the Energon Universe‘s limited series debut. Duke #2 is set to hit comic book stores on January 31, 2024.

In Duke #2, codenamed G.I. JOE continues, as Conrad Hauser, also known as Duke, finds himself on the run from the very government he once trusted. Delving into secrets that may be “More Than Meets The Eye,” Duke is on the verge of an unexpected encounter that will undoubtedly captivate G.I. JOE enthusiasts worldwide.

The first of four action-packed G.I. JOE miniseries, Duke, seeks to introduce the iconic characters of the G.I. JOE and Cobra factions to the Energon Universe, paving the way for a fresh new take on these timeless characters in a shared universe with Transformers and Void Rivals.

Following Duke, fans can look forward to the much-anticipated launch of Cobra Commander #1, also penned by Joshua Williamson, with artwork by Andrea Milana (known for Impact Winter: Rook) and colors by Annalisa Leoni (known for Oblivion Song), arriving in comic book shops on January 17, 2024.

This comprehensive vision for the Energon Universe aims to set the stage for a journey into the world of G.I. JOE, Cobra, and the familiar characters reimagined in a fresh, shared universe with Transformers that was one of the most talked about moments in comics in 2023 with the release of Void Rivals #1.

The Energon Universe, which kicked off in June 2023 with the surprise debut of the Transformers’ Jetfire in Void Rivals #1, continues to expand with the release of Transformers #1, crafted by writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson (known for Extremity, Do a Powerbomb, DC’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth) and colorist Mike Spicer (known for Stillwater, Murder Falcon).

This launched a new era for the iconic Transformers franchise as it continues to lead fans through a new and shared universe packed with some of our favorite characters from the iconic franchises.

Be sure to look for Cobra Commander #1 at your favorite local comic shop when it arrives next week on January 17th, 2024, followed by Duke #2 on January 31st, 2024.
