Fiery Trailer For FIRESTARTER Reveals New Look at New Adaptation
Peacock and Universal Pictures have just released the trailer for the upcoming second adaptation to Stephen King‘s Firestarter. The film stars Zac Efron and Ryan Kiera Armstrong as father and daughter in which Armstrong’s character possesses some horrifying pyrotechnical powers.
The previous adaptation starred Drew Barrymore, but Armstrong will be taking on the role in this new adaptation that shows Charlie struggling with her fiery abilities as well as what you would expect a child to be dealing with at that age. That’s not all, as we also see a government agency working to track her down and seemingly harness her abilities.
Here’s the official synopsis for Firestarter:
“For more than a decade, parents Andy and Vicky have been on the run, desperate to hide their daughter Charlie from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction.
Andy has taught Charlie how to defuse her power, which is triggered by anger or pain. But as Charlie turns 11, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. After an incident reveals the family’s location, a mysterious operative is deployed to hunt down the family and seize Charlie once and for all. Charlie has other plans.”
Firestarter is directed by Keith Thomas, from a screenplay by Scott Teems. The film is produced by Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman. Firestarter, also stars Sydney Lemmon, Michael Greyeyes, Kurtwood Smith, John Beasley, and Gloria Reuben.
Firestarter will premiere simultaneously in theaters and on Peacock on May 13th, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
