Eli Roth Announces Sequel for Thanksgiving Slasher Film
Eli Roth has confirmed that a sequel to his festive slasher film Thanksgiving is officially in the works as Sony Pictures officially greenlit a sequel. The original film, based on a trailer featured in his 2007 film Grindhouse, has been receiving positive reviews and is currently playing in theaters, starring an ensemble cast including Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, and Gina Gershon.

Roth took to social media to express his gratitude to the fans who have shown their support for “ORIGINAL HORROR” in theaters. He urged everyone to catch the film on the big screen while it’s still showing, as the sequel is scheduled for release in 2025. Roth also mentioned that the team will be taking their time to ensure the script is perfected, with work on it commencing immediately.
In addition to writing the film, Roth directed it as well. The cast of Thanksgiving also includes Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, Milo Manheim, Tim Dillon, and Jenna Warren.

With this announcement, Thanksgiving is well on its way to becoming a fully-fledged franchise. Since its initial release, the film has accumulated around $29 million worldwide, and its journey from a fake trailer to a full-length feature has spanned over a decade before finally gracing screens in 2023. Fans of the original film can now look forward to the return of John Carver in 2025. Check out the announcement on Roth’s Instagram account below:
