DC Announces Ape-ril Special Anthology Comic
DC Comics has announced a special anthology comic called Ape-ril Special. This 48-page one-shot will feature stories crafted by John Layman, Joshua Hale Fialkov, and Gene Yang, accompanied by artwork from Karl Mostert, Phil Hester, and Bernard Chang.
The anthology will offer a main cover by Dan Mora, along with a variant cover by Bernard Chang and a unique “Banana Scent” variant cover by Hayden Sherman.

The storyline features a captivating narrative of Gorilla Grodd’s recent incarceration in the pages of DC’s The Flash, which has paved the way for Monsieur Mallah to step into the spotlight. Mallah, eager to seize the opportunity, forms the Legion of D(oo-oo-ah-ah)m, enlisting the most sinister simians in the DCU with ambitions of world domination.
But hope is not lost, as the all-ape JUNGLE L(ee-ee)gue emerges as a formidable force, striving to prevent Mallah’s band of maniacal monkeys from triggering the ape-pocalypse.
This special one-shot anthology is designed to pay homage to DC‘s rich history and its connection with our primate relatives. Ape-ril Special promises to be an “ape-ic” adventure timed perfectly for April Fools Day 2024!
Fans can anticipate an “orangu-tastic” experience and are encouraged to immerse themselves in the spirit of the occasion by enjoying a “capuchin-o” and some “chocolate chimp” cookies while diving into the one-shot special issue.
