Cult of the Lamb: The First Verse Sees the Cute and Horrifying Hit Indie Game Come to Comics

A new graphic novel, Cult of the Lamb: The First Verse, has made its debut on Kickstarter, offering an enticing expansion of the original game’s lore. This project is a result of a collaboration between comic book publisher Oni Press, game publisher Devolver Digital, and development studio Massive Monster.

The creative team behind this endeavor features the talented writer Alex Paknadel (Red Goblin) and the skilled artist Troy Little (Rick and Morty vs. Cthulu).

In a world tainted by cruelty and malevolence, the purest soul among them – young Lamb, the final remnant of their kind – was chosen to serve as the ultimate dark offering.

Their demise was meant to permanently seal away the most sinister of the Old Gods from our realm, thus paving the way for a new era under the dominion of the four eldritch Bishops of the Old Faith. However, Lamb defied this fate and struck an unprecedented accord.

At the nexus of eternity, Lamb encountered the captive deity known as The One Who Waits, who unveiled the deceptions of the false prophets ruling the world above. Empowered with the Red Crown and imbued with unholy abilities, Lamb returned to the realm of the living to seek retribution and establish a new cult upon the Earth.

The Bishops of the Old Faith must be vanquished. The nonbelievers must be eradicated. And as Lamb gathers their following, a new sovereign shall ascend to rule all of creation. All hail the Cult of the Lamb!

Massive Monster‘s Cult of the Lamb is a roguelite video game released on all platforms that puts you in the shoes, or should we say hoofs of a lamb who is saved from death by “The One Who Waits” and you must repay your debt by assembling a loyal cult.

The game has been a massive hit and the end seems far from over as now the universe expands into comics.

Cult of the Lamb: The First Verse is currently available on Kickstarter. Show your allegiance to “The One Who Waits,” and back the project today!
