Cobweb Trailer Spins A Sinister Family Secret into A Terrifying Tale
More exciting news for horror fans hoping to enjoy a good horror movie during the Summer as Lionsgate has released the Cobweb trailer. The upcoming horror film starring Lizzy Caplan and Antony Starr was revealed via a report by EW which takes us into the dark and sinister secrets of the family. The son of Caplan and Starr’s characters, Peter (Woody Norman) begins to hear knocking inside the walls of the home and although his parents continue to play it off to a young imagination, Peter and Cleopatra Coleman‘s Miss Devine soon realize this is far more sinister than a child’s imagination.
The film’s official site gives Cobweb the following description:
Eight-year-old Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from in his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter’s fear intensifies, he believes that his parents could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questions their trust. And for a child, what could be more frightening than that?
The film is helmed by Samuel Bodin from a script written by Chris Thomas Devlin. The film was produced by Evan Goldberg, Roy Lee, Seth Rogen, James Weaver with Andrew Childs, Connor DiGregorio, Josh Fagen, Jonathan McCoy, and Christopher Woodrow executive producing.
After her phenomenal performance in Castle Rock, Caplan seems to be geared for another memorable performance in Cobweb and could possibly further elevate her into a lead for many other horror projects in the future. Starr has been absolutely menacing as Homelander during his time on Prime Video‘s The Boys and that energy seems to have been something he embodies now as the teaser trailer shows his quiet demeanor but secrets behind his eyes.
The younger Norman and Coleman seemingly bring an energy to the film that should intensify the dread and urge for answers as we unravel this family secret tapping its way toward us.
Cobweb will release in theaters on July 21, 2023.
