Cinderella’s Curse Images Show Sadistic Take on the Classic Fairytale

Cinderella has a long history of being adapted into films, both from Disney‘s animated classics and live-action adaptations. Now, exclusive images released by Bloody Disgusting have been released from the upcoming horror film adaptation of the classic tale, titled Cinderella’s Curse. The images show the titular character attending the story’s signature ball, however, this version of the classic princess is reminiscent of some of the bloodiest films in the horror genre such as Carrie, with her face and dress covered in blood, seemingly ready to exact vengeance on those who have wronged her.

The classic tale is not without its modernized adaptations, however, a horror-driven twist could bring the story to life. Further details on the project remain unknown, however, the film will likely follow in the footsteps of ITN Studios‘ other classic children’s story, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which also featured a modern horror twist on another famed children’s story that recently saw itself become a public domain.

Directed by Louisa Warren (who also serves as co-producer on the film) from a script by Harry Boxley, the film stars Kelly Ryan Sansone, Chrissy Wunna, and Danielle Scott.

Warren told Bloody Disgusting that fans can expect a one-of-a-kind tale, saying:

“This is a truly one-of-a-kind take on the Cinderella story we all know and love. There will be some truly grisly deaths at her hands, and I think the gore-hounds are going to love my dark retelling.” What can we expect from the upcoming film? Horror fans can look forward to an extremely gory experience soon, as the latest Cinderella hits theaters in October.

Blood and Honey seems to have opened a fountain of inspiration for these horror adaptations and I for one welcome the twisted tales of these childhood tales. There have been novel adaptations that have touched on turning these happily-ever-after stories on their heads before but seeing a bloody take on the big screen that will most likely give fans a taste of different uses of those glass slippers should make for a wild ride for horror fans and those brave enough to enter this twisted tale.

Cinderella’s Curse arrives in theaters this October.
