Christopher Landon Will Direct Scream 7
Christopher Landon will be taking over as the director of the highly anticipated Scream 7, following the departure of the duo known as Radio Silence THR has reported. Radio Silence, comprised of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, will be venturing into new projects following their success in the last two installments of Scream.
This may be disappointing news for fans but off the heels of the success of Scream 5 and Scream 6, Radio Silence will now be crafting some exciting new projects.
Scream VI, released in March, was a tremendous success, breaking franchise records by earning an impressive $168 million at the global box office. Its predecessor, Scream V, had earned $137.7 million worldwide. The Scream franchise, which originated in 1996 under the direction of horror icon Wes Craven, has been a staple in the slasher and horror genre with its clever play on the rule of slasher films and the captivating Ghostface who loves to know what your favorite scary movie is.
While Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette had been the mainstays throughout the first five films, we saw our legacy characters return for the fifth installment and only Cox returned for the sixth installment. The series has also featured notable actors such as Timothy Olyphant, Patrick Dempsey, Liev Schreiber, and Emma Roberts, among many others.
Christopher Landon, known for blending horror with comedy, is an ideal choice to helm the self-aware Scream series. He has an impressive horror background, having written several films in the Paranormal Activity franchise and directed both Happy Death Day movies which are criminally underrated.
In 2020, he brought a horror twist to the film Freaky Friday with the movie Freaky, starring Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn, and saw the two stars switching bodies in a darker twist that had a serial killer and a young girl switching bodies.
Landon’s most recent work includes the Netflix film We Have a Ghost which was at the top of the streamer’s charts and follows a family moving into a home that has a ghost played by David Harbour who has no recollection as to who he is and is unable to speak.

Meanwhile, Radio Silence has been tapped to bring to life a Universal Pictures monster flick, reportedly titled Dracula’s Daughter. The film will feature Scream actress Melissa Barrera, along with Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Will Catlett, and the late Angus Cloud.
Much of the details of the film are still under wraps but has Radio Silence‘s Chad Villella producing alongside Tripp Vinson. Jay Polidoro, Holly Goline, Kelly Cannon, and Jacqueline Garell
