Blade of the 47 Ronin Sets October Release Date
Blade of the 47 Ronin is set to be arriving much sooner than fans anticipated. The long-awaited sequel of the Keanu Reeves-led film, 47 Ronin will be making its way to Netflix in October of 2022. The fictionalized account of the 18th-century Japanese samurai warriors. The film was not a box office success but is a film that is loved by many fans. Some may be surprised to see the film return for a sequel but with its release planned for a streaming platform, it could be safe to assume this film is being brought to life with the fans of the original in mind.
The logline for Blade of the 47 Ronin reads:
“The sequel to the 2013 pic will be set 300 years into the future in an exotic cyberpunk world. The film will be a fresh, re-imagined take on the original feature and will incorporate horror along with modern samurai and ninja elements.”
The film’s cast includes Anna Akana, Teresa Ting, Mike Moh, Dustin Nguyen, Chris Pang, Fukuyama Chikako, and Mark Dacascos for the sequel. Also joining the already star-studded cast are Luna Fujimoto, Koieyama Akira, and Nino Furuhata. Akira was also featured in the original film that starred Reeves.
The ensemble cast will be working with Ron Yuan who is helming the film working off a script that was written by the writing duo of AJ Mendez and Aimee Garcia. Tim Kwok will serve as producer.
Blade of the 47 Ronin will be available on Netflix and VOD on October 25th, 2022.
