Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Teaser Trailer Brings Burton’s Famous Vision Back to Life

After more than three decades since the original movie, Tim Burton‘s long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel has finally unveiled a brief teaser trailer, just a day after the first-look images were revealed. The teaser, released by Warner Bros., runs just over one minute and is accompanied by a choral rendition of Day-O (The Banana Boat Song), a nod to the original film.

The teaser provides a glimpse of Jenna Ortega‘s character, Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Winona Ryder‘s Lydia Deetz, as she rides her bicycle past Miss Shannon’s School for Girls. The trailer also features a scene with Astrid, Lydia, and Catherine O’Hara’s Delia Deetz at a funeral.

The teaser showcases Astrid discovering the model of Winter River in the attic, followed by a scene of Lydia alone in the attic. Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice then makes a dramatic appearance, rising from the model and delivering his iconic line, “The juice is loose.”

Accompanying the teaser is the official synopsis for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice:

“Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic, and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened.

With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”

The journey to this point has been a long one, with initial talks of a Beetlejuice sequel dating back to 2011, undergoing various iterations and challenges in development.

In addition to the return of Keaton, Ryder, and O’Hara, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice introduces new additions to the franchise, including Jenna Ortega and Justin Theroux, the latter portraying a mysterious character named Rory. Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci are also joining the cast.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrives in theaters on September 6, 2024. Check out the trailer below:
