Avery Konrad On Playing Sarah Meyers & the Complexities of Her Character in MGM+’s ‘From’
We had the opportunity to talk to Avery Konrad from MGM+’s mystery thriller, FROM. Konrad sat with us and answered a few questions regarding the current second season and her character Sara Meyers. Sara Myers is a resident in this trapped town but her story is a bit different in that she seems to have had a breakdown but we think there is more to it than that.
FROM unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest – including the terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down. In season two, hidden truths about the nature and terrifying origins of the town begin to emerge, even as life for its residents is plunged into chaos by the arrival of mysterious newcomers.

GN: You’ve previously mentioned that Sarah is mainly seen as a killer or a bit crazy. But she’s a real person with a lot of heart. Is this something that will be emphasized in the second season to give us kind of a more human connection to Sarah?
Avery: 100%? Yeah, I think that’s really what season two is about for her. Which is really cool to see that different side of her because there was a lot of tragedy. Not to say that there’s not tragedy in season one, but it’s a very different type. It’s more still, than an internal thing.
GN: Okay, cool. Yeah, I know, recently, we just saw the third episode and we finally got to see you come back. So we’re very excited for what’s to come. So, avoiding spoilers of course. Is there anything you can divulge or tease about the journey that Sarah will have in the second season?
Avery: Yeah definitely, kind of what I just touched on is you see a different side of her dealing with all of these demons that she’s kind of made herself in season one. And really sitting with that, and what that looks like, because you don’t really see her still in those in those tragedies in season one, which was different. It was, it’s a different mindset definitely coming into season two for me and playing that. And I think that’s really interesting, which causes a lot of different dynamics to happen.
GN: Okay, cool. So your character, Sarah come comes with, or carries a darkness with them. Even for the dark themes of the series. What’s been the most difficult challenge playing such a dark and kind of wild card kind of character?
Avery: Carrying that weight of like tragedy, like I said before, it can get really hard because it’s important to me as the actor that that is always present because there’s not a moment that she’s not feeling it, even if there is a brief window of light that, that’s never going to leave her. So I think carrying that around for a really long time can get difficult, but with that being said, we still have a lot of fun on set. And, you know, we’re all very supportive of one another. And there’s a great support system. So I mean, I get to do what I love. So that’s, you know, I’ll take that over anything.
GN: Yeah, for sure. And just kind of along with that, like, what’s your favorite part of playing Sarah like playing this kind of character?
Avery: I feel so grateful to be able to play a character like this. I don’t think characters like Sarah come around that often and to be able to bring her to life has been, you know, the highlight of my career so far. And as soon as I read the breakdown, I was like this, she’s, she’s so interesting. And there’s so many layers to her and kind of every actors dream to be able to play someone really dark, but you know, just add on to the mystery. Yeah, I’m really grateful to be able to, to do that.
After speaking with Avery Konrad we are very excited for what’s to come for Sara in season two of From. Continue your From journey with season two and season one on MGM+ with new episodes every Sunday.
