According to The Wall Street Journal, Angelina Jolie is set to reprise her role as Maleficent in a third installment of the Maleficent film franchise. Jolie is signed on to act in several more movies, including Maleficent 3. The first Maleficent movie was directed by Robert Stromberg, while Joachim Rønning directed the sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
The films starred Jolie as Maleficent, Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, and featured an ensemble cast including Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, Sam Riley, Juno Temple, Lesley Manville, Imelda Staunton, Sharlto Copley, Ella Purnell, and Brenton Thwaites, among others.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil continued the story of Maleficent and Princess Aurora, exploring their complex relationship as they formed new alliances and faced new adversaries. The captivating live-action adaptation of the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of the iconic evil fairy released in 2014, the movie became a phenomenal success, amassing a staggering $758 million in global box office revenue.
Building upon the success of the first movie, the sequel was released in 2019. While the sequel did not reach the same heights in terms of box office earnings, it still garnered a substantial $491 million worldwide. Although it may not have matched the financial success of its predecessor, the sequel continued to explore the complex relationship between Maleficent and Princess Aurora and introduced new characters and thrilling adventures.

The Maleficent films, with their captivating storytelling, exceptional performances, and exquisite visuals, have carved a special place in the hearts of fans around the world.
