Adriyan Rae: All Hail the Vagrant Queen [Interview]
Adriyan Rae is an incredible actor, starring as Brittany Pitts in the revival of the series The Game, Gianna Mackey in Chicago Fire, Elida in Vagrant Queen, and a whole bunch of other great movies and TV shows!
I got the chance to sit down with Adriyan and talk about if we could be any form of potato, and what kind we would be. We also discuss her initial interest in the medical field, where she first started out as a physician’s assistant and a medical laboratory scientist before shifting her focus from medicine to becoming an actor.
We then talked about her time as Princess/Queen Elida on Vagrant Queen including the audition process and how it came together, some of her favorite memories from the show, and whether Tim Rozon‘s beard is as awesome as it looks.
Then we switched to talking about her time playing Gianna Mackey in Chicago Fire and if her previous experience in the medical field helped prepare her for this role.
After that, we spent some time talking about her time as Brittany Pitts in The Game, how it came about, and her time as part of the show.
We also chat about what we can see from her in the future (she said she can’t talk about what she’s currently working on just yet, but she said it’s magical and we are going to love it) and any advice she has for up-and-coming creatives!
Vagrant Queen is based on the Vault comics series of the same name, written by Magdalene Visaggio and illustrated by Jason Smith.
It starred Rae as the titular character Elida (aka. Eldaya) Al-Feyr who had built a life as a scavenger and outlaw, but when an old frenemy, Isaac (played by Tim Rozon), turns up with news about her long-lost mother, she is forced to return to her broken kingdom with Isaac and Amae (played by Alex McGregor) in hopes of staging a rescue before a deadly childhood foe, Commander Lazaro (Paul du Toit), finds them.
