50 Cent Confirms 8 Mile Series is Being Developed

50 Cent recently confirmed during an interview with Big Boy TV that he and Eminem are developing a series based on the autobiographical film 8 Mile. The series will be based on the film but as the film focuses on Eminem’s story, the series looks to be a modern version of the 2002 film.

50 Cent brings a level of experience to the project with his work on Power. However, more information still remains to be revealed as there is no word on any casting, showrunner, or the official direction the series is headed. Although the series is “in motion.” No word on what streaming platform or network it will call home but 50 Cent did note that he pitched the idea to Eminem who quickly jumped on board.

50 Cent further added that the series will offer more details of Eminem‘s life, saying:

“I wanna be able to show and offer a lot more details, things that you would say in an interview or different things that you’ve already used, that you put out there, and stuff like that. You’ll see those kinds of things surface and the temperament of the characters.”

The 2002 film follows the life of Jimmy Smith/ B-Rabbit as he tries to launch his career in hip-hop and touches on the difficulties of breaking into the business and the ups and downs of his life. The film brought us the original song by Eminem ‘Lose Yourself’ which earned an Academy Award for best song. Eminem starred alongside Michael Shannon, Anthony Mackie, Mekhi Phifer, Kim Basinger, and the late Brittany Murphy.
