Doug Cockle Returns as Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep Teaser Trailer
Netflixhas announced the second Witcher anime film, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. This film will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski‘s beloved short story, “A Little Sacrifice.” This will not be Liam Hemsworth‘s debut as Geralt of Rivia, as he is taking over the role from Henry Cavill. Hemworth’s debut is still planned for the live-action series which is set to introduce Hemsworth in the role of Geralt in its upcoming season.
Instead, Netflix revealed that Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt in The Witcher games, will reprise the role in Sirens of the Deep.
The official synopsis describes the plot as follows:
“Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. He must rely on old and new friends to solve the mystery before it escalates into all-out war between the two kingdoms.”
Joey Batey, who portrays Jaskier, and Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, will both return from the live-action Witcher series to lend their voices to their characters in the anime film. Additionally, Christina Wren will join the cast as Essi Daven, a character previously only seen in the original Witcher books.
Although A Little Sacrifice does not feature prominent characters like Yennefer or Ciri, it is still considered one of the best Witcher short stories. It is a self-contained narrative, much like the story told in Nightmare of the Wolf, which makes it a perfect fit for a Netflix film adaptation.
While we don’t have an exact release date yet, we can expect the film to premiere on Netflix sometime in late 2024. Check out the teaser below:
