The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon Spinoff Will Take Place in France
AMC‘s upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff series is finally getting some pleasant news after being hit with setbacks that included that included Melissa McBride‘s decision to step away from the series after filming overseas proved to be logistically impossible.
The series which will now star Norman Reedus‘ Daryl Dixon as he reprises his role from The Walking Dead will take Daryl to France according to Chief Content Officer for The Walking Dead Scott M. Gimple. During an episode of The Talking Dead which aired as a special titled Talking Dead: The Walking Dead Universe Preview 2022, Gimple shared exclusive information on the upcoming spinoffs and in regards to Reedus’ spinoff, he said:
“The Daryl spinoff takes place in France. [The World Beyond coda] is a bit of a tease of some of the things Daryl is going to face… Daryl is a fish out of water to start with. If Daryl finds himself with new people, he’s a fish out of water. In France, in a country that’s going through the apocalypse, [it’s] an entirely different thing. He finds himself having to reinvent himself again, having to find himself again, and also, not being with — probably — the only people in the world he’s comfortable with.”
The Walking Dead spans 11 seasons and has seen many cast members come and go throughout, including longtime series star Andrew Lincoln who played Rick Grimes and is still set to star in films set in The Walking Dead universe. Reedus & Carol’s characters Dary & Carol were the only remaining original cast members remaining but it seems as Reedus might be the lone wolf in the upcoming spinoff should it continue without McBride.
The Walking Dead‘s Daryl Dixon spinoff does not have an official premiere date but it will premiere exclusively on AMC.
