Earth-shattering dick-smashing is not something you come across often. It’s not something you think you wanted to see and the team behind Deadpool somehow managed to convince me otherwise within the pages of The Giant Kokju #1. Not many people have been brave enough to take on a project like this and some of you might feel squeamish, but I think most of you will see a shameful kink surface.
Gerry Duggan, Scott Koblish, and Hi-Fi take us on a ridiculous ride as Kaiju surface to fulfill their most basic of needs. Whether it’s passing gas, eating, or… and this is where things get fucked; their sexual needs, the citizens of the city get a full frontal view of the violence being swung in their direction and even with all their toys, the military is no match. Scientists have warned us for years about shitting on our planet and now, our planet is shitting on us.
With a heavy M rating, the creative team put together a comic that should be completely absurd but managed to deliver a hilariously violent story that toes the line between adult humor and a fucking nightmare. Duggan does what he does best by delivering a story that is entertaining, funny, and pushes a unique narrative forward and you can’t really ask for much out of a great comic.
Koblish and Hi-Fi team up to lather the pages with superb linework and colors worthy of a giant horny monster comic. After the horny Kaiju penetrates three floors in a single thrust, interrupting several office meetings and turning the building into remnants, you’re either going to shake your head in disbelief or pop a fear boner.
This does carry the classic science vs giant monster plot but it points out many real-life issues and how the human race has failed this planet many times over. Also, call this anticipation or intuition, but somehow you manage to feel as if Koblish and Hi-Fi are guiding you towards the BIG reveal.
As we are subjected to the giant monster relieving itself against the building, the following full-page spread of a giant monster dick with people penetrated and dangling from its spiky foreskin is the type of thing you describe to your therapist moments before you find yourself in a padded room for 72 hours.
If you’re a fan of Duggan and Koblish and the insanity they delivered in Deadpool, if you’re a fan of outside-the-box Kaiju stories, if you’re a fan of horny monsters, then there’s something in The Giant Kokju #1 for you. All jokes aside, it’s refreshing to see a genre or universe that is seen time and time again and flipped on its head to give us an exhilarating story of wreaking havoc. A special shout-out to the publisher for running with this story.
Many would be squeamish or hesitant to run with this but I would have given my left nut to be in the room when this was pitched. This is a love letter to monsters as you’ve never seen before.

This is a 20/10 and every single issue of The Giant Kokju should be in your pull box.
