It’s War Against Artificial Intelligence in The Creator Trailer
John David Washington is set to take on an army of AI in the upcoming sci-fi adventure and fans get a new look in The Creator trailer. Director Gareth Edwards has been tapped to direct the film, which is set to debut this September. The new trailer released shows a dystopian future where man is at war against machines. Washington plays Joshua, a former special forces agent who is dealing with the disappearance of his wife (Gemma Chan) in the midst of a war between man and AI.
According to the official synopsis, Joshua is tasked with finding and killing the Creator, the mysterious architect behind the advanced AI, who has created a weapon with the ability to end the war… and humanity itself. Joshua and his team have to go deep into enemy territory to find the doomsday weapon, only to find that it’s an AI in the embodiment of a child.
Starring alongside Washington and Chan will be Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Allison Janney, and Madeleine Yuna Voyles. The film was written by Edwards alongside Chris Weitz. Kiri Hart, Arnon Milchan, and Jim Spencer will produce the film with Yariv Milchan, Natalie Lehman, Michael Schaefer, Nick Meyer, and Zev Foreman executive producing.
Edwards delivered what is quite possibly the best film in the entire Star Wars saga with Star Wars: Rogue One and now looks to leave his mark on the popular genre of man vs machine which has been made a timeless story thanks to the long-living Terminator franchise. The timing could not be better as AI seems to be on everyone’s mind with the continued push of implementing it into many aspects of creativity, entertainment, and our lives. The film has many pieces working in its favor for a successful theater run.
The Creatorwill be available in theaters on September 29, 2023.
