Anime Studios Brings Star Wars Visions To A Galaxy Far, Far Away This September.
During Anime Expo Lite, Disney announced a bevy of anime studios hard at work on a series of anime shorts for Star Wars: Visions, which will stream on Disney+ this September. Anime fans will recognize most of the studios in the line-up. Even if they don’t recognize the studio itself, they’ll likely recognize the studio’s work at the very least. These are some of the best-known and most talented anime studios currently working in Japan.
“Each one of these studios that we approached, we found hardcore Star Wars fans,” Lucasfilm executive producer Jacqui Lopez said in the sizzle reel. “They all had a story they wanted to tell.”
Here’s the full breakdown of shorts premiering within the series:
Kamikaze Douga – The Duel Geno Studio (Twin Engine) – Lop and Ochō Studio Colorido (Twin Engine) – Tatooine Rhapsody Trigger – The Twins Trigger – The Elder Kinema Citrus – The Village Bride Science Saru – Akakiri Science Saru – T0-B1 Production IG – The Ninth Jedi
“It’s basically the story of twins of the dark side,” Hiroyuki Imaishi of Trigger said of his installment. Taku Kimura describes his short, “Tatooine Rhapsody,” as a “rock opera-style film.”
Star Wars: Visions will release as a single batch of episodes, rather than weekly installments, on September 2, 2021. Check out the trailer below!
