Spider-Man: Miles Morales Live-Action Movie in the Works
The Spider-Verse may be continuing to upgrade as a Spider-Man: Miles Morales live-action movie is in the works according to a report from Variety. The report stated that producer Amy Pascal teased that a live-action adaptation of the beloved character is currently in development.
Miles Morales looks to be headlining the summer as we also get ready for the highly-anticipated release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse this weekend.
Pascal kept it short and sweet as she revealed during Across the Spider-Verse premiere that “You’ll see all of it,” and “It’s all happening.” With the current WGA strike, it’s doubtful too much can be divulged at this time. Given the popularity of the Spider-Verse animated films and the anticipation that continues to gather for the upcoming planned films in that universe, this is the most reasonable next step.
Sony Pictures has been steadily growing the Spider-Man universe with Venom‘s two films already released and a planned third film. We also have the upcoming Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter films coming our way and now Miles Morales looks to enter the fold.
Sony and Marvel have worked together and slightly merged their two universes in No Way Home as we saw Eddie Brock makes a cameo appearance in the end credit scene leaving behind a piece of the Venom symbiote.
Whether Holland will be making appearances in any capacity in future Sony films remains to be seen but we have already seen references to Miles Morales in the MCU as Spider-Man: Homecoming introduced us to Aaron Davis who is not only the uncle of Miles but also goes on to become The Prowler.
Whether we see a younger Miles introduced first or simply see what kind of movie magic brings him into the live-action universe sooner rather than later remains to be seen but we now know he will be web-slinging his way to the big screen!
Miles Morales slings into Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Miles Morales was already featured in his own standalone video game, Insomniac‘s Spider-Man: Miles Morales released on PC, PS5, and PS4 consoles. It saw Miles’ origin story of sorts as he is trained by Peter Parker who was featured in the previous entry of Insomniac’s Spider-Man game and leaves Miles to tend to the city and this unfolds into his first real test as a hero.
Spider-Man 2 will feature both Spidey’s teaming up to take on an array of villains threatening their city with Kraven the Hunter leading the pack as he targets superpowered characters in the city in search of a real challenge. The game just released an extended gameplay sequence during the PlayStation Showcase a few weeks ago which has made the upcoming sequel an even more highly-anticipated title for fans.
Spider-Man 4 is Still in the Works
Pascal also provided an update on a fourth Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film and confirmed that the sequel is very much still alive and happening but the ongoing strikes have put the film on pause. This is as promising an update as you can expect with the ongoing WGA strike and likely will push the film further out.
Stay tuned as more information about the upcoming Miles Morales live-action movie is revealed.
