Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clones – Ghost Spider takes on her biggest threat yet… herself! 

Marvel Comics has announced a brand-new limited series titled Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clones. The new series comes on the heels of Gwenverse which took readers on a multiversal journey that introduced Spider-Gwen to many different versions of the superhero. In this sequel series, the Gwen Stacy of Earth-65 will cross paths with more new faces, but she won’t be meeting new allies this time around. The series will be penned by Emily Kim, with art by Kei Zama.

Marvel’s description of Shadow Clones reads: 

“Ghost-Spider comes face-to-face with some of the deadliest Spider-Man villains, including Doc Ock, Sandman, Vulture and more! But wait… Why do they all look like…Gwen?! Follow Gwen down a dark path as she must find and stop whoever is cloning her into infamous Marvel villains!”

As Spider-Gwen faces off against clones of herself inspired by some of Spider-Man’s greatest villains. She will face her biggest threat yet while hopefully uncovering how they all came to look like her. These new villains were designed by superstar creator Peach Momoko and together, the new creative team adds another chapter to the impressive legacy Spider-Gwen has built upon since her introduction in 2014 which has led her to become one of Marvel’s most popular heroes in just a few years. 

“I was a little nervous taking on Spider-Gwen because she’s such an iconic hero,” Kim said. “But the rich story premise and fantastic team has made the process a blast. I’ve quickly fallen in love with Gwen and her unique voice and am excited for people to see how she handles a crazy slew of Gwen clones.”

“There’s a lot of fun things about drawing Gwen Stacy and Ghost-Spider,” Zama added. “I’m especially exciting to draw bold battle scenes of Ghost-Spider and come up with ways to create exciting compositions. It’s also really fun to draw the expressions of Gwen Stacy. I’m really glad to draw these new villains designed by Peach Momoko. I didn’t expect to collaborate with her in this way.”

Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clones #1 will be available at your favorite local comic shop and digitally on March 1, 2023.
