Shogun Run: David F. Walker and Ben Bishop Join Creative Team for Damon Wayans Jr. and Andrew Bachelor Graphic Novel
Damon Wayans Jr. and Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor announced their collaboration with David F. Walker to co-write the upcoming graphic novel Shogun Run. The esteemed creators are joined by another big name in the comics scene as artist Ben Bishop also joins the creative team.
Shogun Run is set in 1990s South Central Los Angeles and has been described as a fusion of “Big Trouble in Little China” and “Attack the Block.”Rounding out the creative team are David Uslan, Gary Glushon, and Sean Oswolo, who will serve as advisors and producing partners on the project.

David F. Walker, renowned for his Eisner Award-winning comic book series Bitter Root, adds his creative prowess to the writing team. Ben Bishop, known for his work on the New York Times bestseller Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, brings his uncanny talent to the graphic novel.
Bishop’s work on The Last Ronin series, which saw a lone surviving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fighting to avenge his fallen brothers led to a sequel comic series featuring a new group of TMNT brothers and also a highly anticipated action RPG game in the works.
Published by First Second, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers, with a potential series or film adaptation in the pipeline. Allison Verost, senior VP and publishing director at Macmillan, will oversee the project, while Calista Brill, First Second Books’ editorial director, will edit the novel alongside Nachie Marsham, as Kirk Benshoff serves as the creative director.

In a recent statement, Wayans Jr. and Bachelor expressed their enthusiasm about welcoming Walker and Bishop to the creative team, highlighting their remarkable talent and the anticipation of sharing an exciting, fun, and action-packed story with the world.
Shogun Run will be available everywhere books are sold and your favorite local comic shops in 2025.
