One day, I was watching a live stream where Walter Jones and Austin St. John, the original Black and Red Power Rangers, were going through some new Mighty Morphin Power Ranger toys that were coming soon. As they were talking, the chat shifted to what they were working on. Austin mentioned he had a comic book coming out soon. I immediately perked up and listened closer as he described the premise of the book. At that moment, as a huge MMPR fan, I was hooked, and I knew I needed to read this book. That book is out now, and it’s called Red-Empt1on #1.

Here’s a brief synopsis:
The year is 2022, war has broken out, and is hell on a small group of Marines stationed in Afghanistan. Meet the men along with their Captain, for these Marines looking into the horizon can mean death. What they are about to encounter is an enemy that humanity itself has never experienced.
Evil is coming to end the world and only ONE is brave enough to save it.
Austin and his company Red-Empt1on Comics have partnered with Charter Comics to create this post-apocalyptic story of hope and redemption for one man to draw on his past to help make a better future for himself and the rest of the world.

This book had me drawn in right from the start. The intense military action, mixed in with a very cool supernatural effect that definitely left me wanting to know more. And that big reveal at the end? Blew me away. You want to know what it is? Well, you’re just going to have to read it for yourself!
And you’re in luck! The Kickstarter for issue #2 is coming soon, and you can snag both the first and second issues during that campaign! Just click the link to check out the new campaign or head over to the official site and sign up to keep yourself notified when it launches!

A jack of many trades, but a master of none, Chris dabbles in many nerdy hobbies including toy collecting, reading comics, writing fiction, reading novels, and playing video games. He’s also a huge wrestling fan, and knows more about it than most normal people should.
When he’s not writing or hosting podcasts for Geek Network, he can be found listening to podcasts and hanging out with his wife, his two daughters, and his little dog Gertie.
