Activision has confirmed that Rambo and Die Hard’s John McClane are coming to Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.
What started as a series of leaks and rumors has been confirmed by the studio behind the first-person shooter. The studio also jumped into the speculation with their own set of hints on social media. With the popular action films getting the Die Hard and Rambo treatment, any fans of the popular ’80s action films will definitely want to jump in to Call of Duty’s battle royale.
It all started a few weeks ago when Activision began sharing teasers about the upcoming mashup. First, teasing the player named SurvivorJon#1009062. It didn’t take long for the internet to run rampant with the little information given and of course, the internet being the internet, a capeless hero stepped up and put the pieces together for us. Check out the tweet below:
After solving the puzzle, the teasers kept rolling in. This time it was a teaser for “player” Cowboymcclane#0070030. Now, how many McClanes do we really know of? not many, and there’s a reference leading to the codename in the actual movie. So, as the internet surely cracked another teaser, we all stood up and yelled YIPPEE KAY YAY MOTHER F*&%ER!
Well, the guessing game is over as Activision has now confirmed that the two action icons are making their way to COD on May 20th.
As odd as this may seem for younger players, those of us who were around in the ’90s and dare I say the ’80s are very excited to see such an integral part of our youth being featured. Warzone continues to be one of the most popular and most downloaded games in recent months. This should definitely keep that trend running.
