Post Malone‘s love for geek culture is no secret. From collaborating with Wizards of the Coast on special variant sets to streaming his own tournaments, he has immersed himself in the world of Magic: The Gathering. Recently, he made the bold move of being the owner of a one-of-a-kind variant of Sauron’s Ring from The Lord of the Rings-themed Magic: The Gathering set.

The ultra-rare card gave fans the chance of finding the One Ring card in a pack from the Tales of Middle-earth set at approximately 1 in 3 million. It was Brook Trafton who struck gold, finding the card and earning a mint 9-grade with an estimated value of $2 million.

News spread quickly, and Spanish gaming store Gremio de Dregones took a shot at becoming owners of the one card to rule them all, offering $2.1 million. The offer was turned down by Trafton and given the card’s uniqueness and popularity, it’s speculated that bidding may have reached even higher figures.

Trafton said in a TikTok video released that when he got his hands on the card he knew Malone was the first person who came to mind, saying:

“When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was Post Malone. I have played MTG since I was a kid and it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life changing.”

This isn’t the first time Post Malone has gone after a rare card in Magic: The Gathering. He previously purchased an ultra-rare black-and-white artist proof of the game’s legendary Black Lotus card for a staggering $800,000.

Post Malone’s acquisition of the one-of-a-kind Sauron’s Ring card adds to his ever-growing connection with the Magic: The Gathering community. With his ongoing involvement and support, it’s clear that his love for the trading card game is here to stay. Post Malone’s love for MTG is yet another way he has connected with fans as you can see in the video below.

Trafton says in his video that he wanted the card to go to someone that would appreciate it as much as he does and Post Malone definitely meets that mark. Check out the video of the exchange between Trafton and Post Malone below:

When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was @Post Malone. I have played MTG since I was a kid and obviously it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do. This is my dream come true, meeting Post Malone and him buying the One Ring card from me is literally a moment straight out of a fairytale. Post Malone @Magic: The Gathering you have changed my life. Things like this don’t happen to people like me, I guess it’s magic. I am forever grateful 🙏 ✨  #postmalone #onering #oneofone #mtg #magic #mint #psa #card #magicthegathering #lordoftherings #trading #tradingcards #theonering #sauron #collector #edition #one #gandalf #tradingcardgame
