The Portal film that was announced 8 years ago that J.J. Abrams and Warner Bros. were developing, is still in the works according to Abrams.

While speaking with IGN about the 4K Ultra HD release of Super 8, Abrams offered an update.

J.J. Abrams said, “We actually do have a script that’s being written for the Portal movie now at [Warner Bros.]. We’re really excited about the take and the pitch, so it feels like that thing’s finally on the rails.” Although Abrams wouldn’t reveal just who is working on the Portal script, he does seem rather excited by the potential of the project.

It’s got enormous potential for a lot of reasons, one of which is because of the limited narrative of the game, as ingeniously told as it is, the potential of it is so huge. It’s gonna be super fun.

Around the same time the Portal adaptation was announced, Abrams’ Bad Robot was reportedly also involved in a film adaptation of Half-Life, but Abrams shared with IGN that Bad Robot is  “not actively involved” with the project at the moment.
