Persuasion: Netflix Reveals Images and Release Date for Dakota Johnson’s Jane Austen Film
Netflix has revealed images and a release date for the upcoming Jane Austen adaptation Persuasion. The Film stars Dakota Johnson in the long-awaited adaptation of the celebrated novel that will follow a family on the verge of bankruptcy in the early nineteenth century. To help with their financial issues, the family rents their home to an admiral whose family shares a long history with the family.

The official description from Netflix reads:
“Living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy, Anne Elliot is an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities. When Frederick Wentworth—the dashing one she let get away—crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances. Adapted from the Jane Austen novel.”
The images show Johnson in the lead role of Anne Elliott. She plays a young woman who was persuaded to end her engagement and now has the chance to rekindle the connection with her former lover, Frederick Wentworth who is played by Cosmo Jarvis.
The film also stars Henry Golding, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Richard E. Grant. The film is helmed by Claire Cracknell from a screenplay written by Alice Victoria Winslow and Ron Bass who both are set to make their feature film debut. The adaptation comes from the final completed work of the legendary author, Austen which was published in 1818.
Persuasion will premiere exclusively on Netflix on July 15th, 2022. Check out the images below:
