Peacock Renews Twisted Metal for Second Season

Peacock has greenlit a second season of the live-action Twisted Metal series. During The Game Awards 2023, Anthony Mackie, who stars in the series presented the award for Best Ongoing Game, but before announcing Cyberpunk 2077 as the winner, he revealed that Twisted Metal will return for a second season.

The series saw a ton of success and was received graciously by fans. The series is based on the popular PlayStation game of the same name that introduced a post-apocalyptic world which saw vehicular combat with an array of characters all packed with their own quirks and personalities. 

The synopsis for the live action series reads: 

John Doe, a motormouthed outsider with no memory of his past, is offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a postapocalyptic wasteland. 

With the help of Quiet, a trigger-happy car thief searching for revenge, he faces twisted marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a highway patrolman and a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

The series was created by David Jaffe, Rhett Rheese, Michael Jonathan Smith, and Paul Wernick. Starring alongside Mackie is Stephanie Beatriz, the duo of Joe Seanoa (Samoa Joe) and Will Arnett, who together provide the likeness and voice to Sweet Tooth, Thomas Haden Church, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans, Neve Campbell, and many more. 

The series was a wild ride that combined both vehicular, and on foot action. It captured the energy of Twisted Metal while bringing a narrative that brought the enigmatic characters to life and the flawless chemistry of Mackie and Beatriz was endlessly satisfying with the occasional disruption of Sweet Tooth.

The series left us on a cliffhanger and fans have been hoping the streamer had faith in the series to give it another round, and now we can rest easy knowing it’s on its way!
