Orphan 3 Is In The Works

Director William Brent Bell is actively working on the development of a third chapter in the Orphan franchise. Taking over from Jaume Collet-Serra, who directed the first film Orphan in 2009, Bell continues the haunting story of Esther (played by Isabelle Fuhrman), a young orphan girl with a dark secret in the upcoming Orphan 3.

Loosely based on the troubling true-crime documentary The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, the franchise explores the chilling tale of Esther. After being adopted by a couple, Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard), Esther’s true nature begins to emerge, as violent acts constantly surround her. It is eventually uncovered that Esther is not an innocent child but a 33-year-old woman with a rare hormonal disorder that stunts her physical growth.

The second film, released in 2022 and also helmed by Bell, serves as a prequel to the original, delving into Esther’s life before adoption. In this installment, she is known as Leena Klammer, a psychiatric patient on a violent journey that leads to her fateful encounter with Kate and John.

In the first film, Fuhrman, Farmiga, and Sarsgaard were joined in the cast by CCH Pounder as Sister Abigail, Margo Martindale as Dr. Browning, and Karel Roden as Dr. Värava. In the second film, Julia Stiles and Rossif Sutherland joined Fuhrman in the cast.

With the upcoming third installment, Isabelle Fuhrman’s portrayal of Esther continues to haunt fans. We can now look forward to another promising layer to the character’s legacy. Stay tuned as more information is revealed.
