Netflix Gets First Look Deal With Dark Horse Entertainment
Dark Horse Entertainment has announced that they have reached a deal to extend their multi-year creative deal with Netflix. The deal will give the streamer first looks at both film and TV adaptations of the Dark Horse library of content. The streamer is already behind the series adaptation of The Umbrella Academy which has seen much success reaching the streamers’ top 10 list and accumulating over 280M hours watched. The deal also has other projects that are in development including Mind MGMT and Bang!
Bang! is a film adaptation starring Idris Elba and directed by David Leitch. The film adaptation is based on the comic series created by Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres. Kindt will be writing the film adaptation alongside Zak Olkewics with Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Kelly McCormick, Elba, and Leitch producing the film.
The logline for the film adaptation reads:
“When a terrorist cult sets out to start the apocalypse with a series of novels meant to brainwash their readers, the world’s most celebrated spy is sent to track down and kill the author responsible.“
Mind MGMT is a series adaptation of the comic book series Kindt with Curtis Gwinn executive producing alongside Richardson and Goldberg.
The logline for the series adaptation reads:
“A young woman stumbles onto the top-secret Mind Management program. Her ensuing journey involves weaponized psychics, hypnotic advertising, talking dolphins, and seemingly immortal pursuers, as she attempts to find the man who was MIND MGMT’s greatest success – and its most devastating failure. But in a world where people can rewrite reality itself, can she trust anything she sees?“
The partnership between the entertainment powerhouses has proved to bring quality content in many forms as other previous collaborations include Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, Polar, Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness with Revenge Inc. and Lady Killer having been previously announced and currently in the pipeline for production.
