Brendon Small: Dragons, Goblins, and Mutilation on a Spring Night [Interview]

Brendon Small: Dragons, Goblins, and Murder on a Spring Night [Interview]

Brendon Small is a talented musician, writer, director, producer, stand up comedian, and an actor.  Now, the creator of the hit series Home Movies and Metalocalypse is headed out on tour with Nekrogoblikon and DragonForce for the brand new tour, “Mutilation on a Spring Night!”

I got the chance to sit down with Brendon and talk about the strangest gift he had ever received, which then pivoted to the coolest/best gift he’s ever received.  We also talked about how music is such a huge part of his life even when he’s not working, and we talked about what got him interested in becoming a musician in the first place.

We also talked about how last time we spoke, he was getting ready for the release of the Metalocalypse movie: Army of the Doomstar.  I got to ask him how he feels now that the story has finally been finished, how it feels having it out in the world, and if this really signals the end of Dethklok.

Also last time we chatted, he was preparing to go out on the Babyklok tour with Japanese metal band Babymetal.  I asked him how things went, and if he had any cool stories he could share.

We then get to the main event, talking about the new upcoming tour “Mutilation on a Spring Night”.  We discussed how the tour came together, the process of picking his tourmates DragonForce and Nekrogoblikon, and if he had ever played with them before.  We then take some time to talk about how the tour dates are decided, and how excited I am that one of the dates is in my town, so I will get to see him live!

We also talked about any upcoming projects from Brendon, and if he has any advice he would offer to fellow creatives!

You can catch Brendon and the rest of the band that makes up Dethklok on the “Mutilation On A Spring Night” tour featuring DragonForce and Nekrogoblikon, kicking off April 7th in Myrtle Beach!  Get your tickets now for a show near you!
