Issa Rae has been cast to lend her voice in the upcoming sequel to Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Issa Rae has reportedly been cast as Spider-Woman in the upcoming sequel to the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
She joins Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld who voiced Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy in their next adventure. I have always been a fan of Spider-Man and until a few years ago when I began reading comics, Miles Morales was somewhat foreign to me, but after getting to read his arcs, and even more recently web-slinging through New York City as Miles in Insomniac’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, I have grown to love this character and the first film was a film that nobody knew what to expect and just blew Marvel fans away.
Sony Pictures Animation looks to keep the magic alive in the sequel and with Rae’s casting, we will get to see a new web-slinger in Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman. Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson will helm the sequel replacing Phil Lord and Chris Miller who will serve as producers and work alongside David Callaham as screenwriters.
The Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel is slated for an October 7, 2022 release.
