Hogwarts Legacy Reveals PlayStation 5 Only Features
PlayStation has revealed its PlayStation 5 specific features coming to Hogwarts Legacy. The upcoming RPG from Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software is set in the Harry Potter universe and will let players take the role of a student at the famed school of witchcraft and wizardry, Hogwarts. Stemming from the world created by J.K. Rowling, the new game will be making great use of the PS5’s DualSense controller and thanks to the recent PlayStation Blog post, we now have some details on what those features will entail.
The PlayStation Blog post explains that the developers will be implementing many uses from the DualSense controller. The DualSense adaptive triggers will give players more flexibility during combat which will make use of the many spells available to players. This implies that pushing the trigger at different rates could change which attack is cast.
Avalanche also explained that Haptic feedback will give players an individualistic response to each spell and the developer has also isolated all of these effects to the right side of the controller to represent the holding of a wand by the in-game character. Players will also feel the Haptic feedback response to deflected spells and the Shield Charm sizzles from magic as if reflects and absorbs your foe’s blows. Haptic feedback will also play a part in numerous activities found throughout the world such as crushing ingredients in Potions class, pulling a Mandrake from its pot, or flying on your broom.
The lights on the player’s DualSense controller will also flash with every spell that is cast or when damage is taken. In moments out of combat or when exploring, the DualSense controller will glow in the colors of the Hogwarts house you represent. Whether it be the green and silver of Slytherin, blue and bronze of Ravenclaw, scarlet and gold of Gryffindor, or the yellow and black of Hufflepuff, players will be able to represent their house with pride in their own home. The game will also feature ambient sounds coming from the DualSense controller that includes the flapping of a Hippogriff’s wings or the crackle of a spell being cast.
For those looking to get that coveted Platinum Trophy, the game will also support the PlayStation 5’s Activity Cards and Game Help. This feature will let players get a quick tip when tracking collectibles or performing certain actions.

Hogwarts Legacy will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in late 2022.
