Grounded Getting Animated Series Adaptation
Obsidian Entertainment‘s co-op survival game Grounded is set to get the animated series treatment as Deadline reports that an animated series is in development. The game has spent the last few years in open development and has been available as part of the Xbox Game Preview with a full release scheduled for September. The series will be adapted by Star Wars: Rebels & Star Wars: The Clone Wars writer Brent Friedman.
Deadline’s report states that the series will also feature four friends who discover the shrinking technology that shrinks them down to just a few inches tall. They will attempt to survive the backyard wasteland that includes dangerous threats such as insects and spiders while investigating the corporate conspiracy that could threaten their entire town. The premise of the series aims to stay true to the video games’ inspiration of A Bug’s Life and Honey I Shrunk the Kids.
The animated series will be adapted by Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox in association with Waterproof Studios/SC Productions, Kinetic Media, and Bardel Entertainment. Friedman will develop the story with Brien Goodrich attached to helm the series. The devs will be making an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con which could yield more information on the animated series next weekend.
Carl Whiteside of MD, WP/SC Productions praised the world created by Obsidian, saying:
“The team at Obsidian have created an incredible world that has already grabbed the attention of the gaming community. We are excited to work with our incredible partners to bring the story to life in an animated series.”
Grounded‘s animated series does not have a release date, cast, or further details but be sure to stay tuned as more information becomes available.
