Gene Luen Yang Breaks Down Books of Clash
Gene Luen Yang, a talented cartoonist with a passion for comics and graphic novels, has made a significant impact on the industry. From his early days of creating comics in fifth grade to his monumental success with American Born Chinese, Yang’s work has garnered critical acclaim and numerous awards.
American Born Chinese, published in 2006 by First Second Books, made history as the first graphic novel to be nominated for a National Book Award. It also received the prestigious American Library Association’s Printz Award and an Eisner Award for Best New Graphic Album.
Yang continued to captivate readers with the release of Boxers & Saints. This two-volume graphic novel delves into the Boxer Rebellion and earned a National Book Award nomination, as well as the L.A. Times Book Prize. Yang’s contributions to the industry extend beyond his original works, including his involvement in Dark Horse Comics‘ Avatar: The Last Airbender, and DC Comics‘ Superman!
One of his latest projects is Books of Clash, a graphic novel series inspired by the immensely popular mobile games, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. The successful release of the first volume paved the way for Books of Clash Volume 2, which debuted today and marks the beginning of Yang’s exciting book tour, where he will be visiting various bookshops and comic shops across the United States.
The official description of Books of Clash Volume 2 reads:
Based on the global hit Clash of Clans and penned by superstar graphic novelist Gene Luen Yang, this second volume of a new action-packed series brings the characters from everyone’s favorite mobile gaming sensation to life!
Once upon a time, archers Jane and Angie were best friends who did everything together. That is, until, one day during battle Jane found herself stranded and alone in an otherworldly cave where she stumbled upon a mysterious scroll…with an even more mysterious message.
Continuing the epic graphic novel series set in the world of Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, Gene Luen Yang pens an offbeat and action-packed tale that turns the fantasy-adventure genre on its head!
