Gal Gadot Says Wonder Woman 3 May Happen with James Gunn and Peter Safran

Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot has claimed a third film is on the way and she will reprise her role as the titular DC Comics hero in Wonder Woman 3. She will be teaming up with DC Studios now led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Despite initial concerns over Patty Jenkins leaving the project, Gadot expressed her commitment to the character and confirmed discussions with Gunn and Safran regarding her return. The involvement of Jenkins and the connection of Wonder Woman 3 to Gunn’s new DC Universe remain uncertain.

Even after the cancellation news of Wonder Woman 3, Gadot appeared in cameo roles in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash, both released earlier this year. Reports suggesting Gadot’s removal from the franchise were refuted by Gunn, who dismissed claims of her being “booted” from the role.

Speaking of her portrayal of Wonder Woman with ComicBook.Com, Gadot said:

“I love portraying Wonder Woman. It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.”

The 2017 release of the first Wonder Woman film was a resounding success, receiving high praise from critics and audiences alike. It became the highest-grossing superhero origin movie at the time, earning $822.8 million worldwide.

However, its sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, faced a more mixed reception. Released during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the film faced numerous challenges. Despite this, Gadot’s portrayal of Diana Prince continued to receive acclaim, and fans of the character eagerly anticipate her return.

Even with a mixed reception of the sequel, the love and acceptance of Gadot as Wonder Woman has never wavered amongst the fandom and her potential return for a threequel is a shining light that we hope carries the iconic actress and character into the new DCU.
