BOOM! Studios has unveiled an exciting first look at ZAWA + THE BELLY OF THE BEAST #1, the highly anticipated debut issue of the new series by the talented and acclaimed cartoonist, Michael Dialynas. Known for his works like Wynd and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dialynas aims to captivate readers once again in this new fantasy tale.
In ZAWA + THE BELLY OF THE BEAST, we delve into a world where nature, greed, and the value of shared meals take center stage. The story revolves around the ancient guardian spirit, Zawa, who finds herself trapped within a mountain due to the pollution-spewing factories that surround her. She is left with no choice but to subsist on industrial run-off, leading to a bitter existence filled with paranoia and destruction.
However, everything changes when two kind-hearted siblings from a nearby village, Bandit and Thatcher, come to Zawa’s aid and help her escape her mountain prison. As they embark on this extraordinary journey, the siblings soon discover that the key to bringing peace to Zawa’s heart lies in nourishing her belly with wholesome and delectable food.
The premiere issue of ZAWA + THE BELLY OF THE BEAST showcases a main cover illustrated by Dialynas himself. Fans can also look forward to variant covers by beloved artists including Jorge Corona, Karl Kerschl, and Skottie Young.
