Discover the Future of ArcheAge: Introducing ArcheAge Chronicles

XLGAMES has officially unveiled its next big step for the ArcheAge franchise. In a newly released Producer’s Letter, Executive Producer Ham Yongjin shares an exciting first look at ArcheAge Chronicles, an upcoming online action RPG set 50 years after the original game’s events.

This isn’t a sequel—and it’s not a reboot. ArcheAge Chronicles is a bold reimagining of the franchise, introducing players to a reborn Auroria, now teeming with life, danger, and untold secrets. Players will take on the role of pioneers returning to this once-abandoned continent, shaping their journey through exploration, discovery, and strategic combat.

“We saw an opportunity to tell a completely new story in a familiar world,” writes Ham. “Chronicles honors the heart of ArcheAge, while pushing it in fresh, exciting directions.”

A New Genre for a New Era

ArcheAge Chronicles marks a genre shift to a shared-world online action RPG. Gameplay will be faster and more focused, while still embracing the franchise’s core values of freedom, community, and deep world-building.

Combat is being completely reworked with:

  • Real-time dodging and weapon swapping
  • Combo-driven skill chains
  • Strategic, gear-based progression

Exploration is also getting a major upgrade. Say goodbye to glowing quest markers—Chronicles encourages curiosity. Players will uncover hidden temples, meet mysterious NPCs, and unravel the ancient mysteries of Auroria through an open, narrative-rich world.

Classic ArcheAge Features, Reinvented

Core systems like lifeskills, housing, and crafting are making a comeback—with major enhancements:

  • Housing now exists across channels, creating persistent, social spaces
  • NPC housemates and interactive furniture bring homes to life
  • Crafting is deeply tied to character progression and the in-game economy

These updated features aim to deliver a more immersive, community-driven experience that remains true to the soul of ArcheAge.

What’s Next?

ArcheAge Chronicles is still in early development, but the team has already completed initial focus testing. More playtest opportunities will be announced in the coming months.

“This is a fresh start for both longtime fans and new players,” says Ham. “We’re building something that brings the ArcheAge legacy into a new era.”
