DC Fandome 2022 Canceled by Warner Bros. Discovery

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that their virtual DC Fandome event has been canceled for 2022. The company revealed the news to Popverse as they explained they intend to make the most of conventions as they return from the hiatus caused by the global pandemic.

“With the return of in-person events, Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to be able to engage with our fans live at numerous comic-cons around the world and will not be scheduling DC FanDome for 2022.”

DC had a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 even with Marvel Studios flooding fans with their massive plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was no surprise to see the two companies attempt to go big as we had not seen an in-person SDCC convention since 2019. DC took advantage of its panels by releasing the first trailer for Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Two of their most highly-anticipated films.

Fandome was launched in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a clear response to events and conventions closing their doors with no end in sight. With some attempts at virtual conventions feeling lackluster and disorganized, no blame on the organizers as this was an unprecedented situation that nobody planned for, but DC took it into their own hands to dedicate an entire event to the entire DC Universe.

With key events returning such as SDCC and NYCC and the presence DC showed during SDCC, it’s a safe assumption to believe that DC Fandome will likely shutter its virtual doors for the foreseeable future.

DC Fandome 2022 Canceled

This may be a disappointment for many fans that aren’t able to partake in the in-person conventions, given Warner Bros. Discovery‘s attempts to cut costs and the major reorganization happening to the DCEU, it’s far from surprising to see them shelve the event.
