Children of the Vault: Bishop and Cable Head to War with Superbeings in New Marvel Miniseries
Marvel Comics has announced a new entry into Fall of X with the miniseries titled Children of the Vault. The upcoming four-issue miniseries sees the X-Men’s Bishop and Cable head to war against evolved superbeings. Writer Deniz Camp will team up with artist Luca Maresca for the limited story coming this August.
What the publisher describes as one of the most significant obstacles to mutankind’s survival, the post-human species threatening mutants is deemed as the next step in the evolutionary chain. Readers have seen glimpses of what is unfolding throughout both Jonathan Hickman and Gerry Duggan‘s X-Men stories as well as the events in this year’s Hellfire Gala. Now, Bishop and Cable are teaming up to take on the Children of the Vault.
Marvel’s description of Children of the Vault reads:
“The Children of the Vault are back, and they are determined to be humanity’s salvation! But not everything is as it seems, and every utopia has its costs. What is the motivation behind these highly evolved beings gifting the world with their advanced technology? And how do Bishop and a now-Orchis-captured Cable figure into their plans?”
Camp shares that Children of the Vault will fill the gaps in what Mike Carey, Hickman, and Duggan have already laid out for fans, saying:
“With CHILDREN OF THE VAULT, we’re taking what Mike Carey, Jonathan Hickman, and Gerry Duggan have established and filling in the gaps to more fully flesh out their motivations and methods.
It’s been a real thrill to invent a whole new society for the Marvel Universe, with its own brutal history, culture, prejudices, personalities, and politics. Just as important to this book are Cable and Bishop, two characters I’ve long known and recently come to love. We’re embracing their rich history and complicated pasts (and futures!) to create a dynamic that I think feels fresh but deeply rooted in the characters.
All of these characters, with their competing visions for the future, are going to collide in a sci-fi story brimming with ‘big ideas,’ accessible to new readers but taking full advantage of the FALL OF X status quo and the Marvel Universe.”
Fall of X has been building up to be a monumental event in Marvel Comics since it was announced at New York Comic-Con 2022. This is grand scale stuff we are about to be thrown into and just as the age of Krakoa was born, it could possibly be the end of the age of Krakoa this July when X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 kicks everything off and leads into other series which have been announced already and the flagship series in the X-Universe.
Children of the Vault #1 will be available at your favorite comic book shop and digitally on August 9, 2023.
