Screenwriter Michael Schwartz is venturing into the world of comics and will be writing ARMORED, an eerie series that delves into the supernatural. This five-issue comic book series, created by Schwartz, follows the journey of an orphan who stumbles upon a mystical suit of armor haunted by the ghost of its past wearer.
Illustrated by Ismael Hernandez, lettered by Ferran Delgado, and edited by Eisner-winner Chris Stevens, ARMORED promises a hauntingly good tale available through Kickstarter. To bring an extra layer of creativity to the project, ARMORED features stunning covers by acclaimed artists Jae Lee, Nick Pitarra, Chrissie Zullo, Scott Kolins, Matthew Therrien, and Jeff Dickson.
The comic book series is being crowdfunded on Kickstarter by Clover Press, allowing fans and supporters to take part in bringing the project to life. The collaboration between Schwartz and Clover Press has been a seamless one, with Schwartz expressing his gratitude for their understanding of the story’s scope and vision, saying:
“A few years ago, my entire comic book collection was stolen. After that I started to re-collect and revisit the thousands of books I loved — from silver age classics to modern era epics — and realized the potential comic books offered me for telling this ambitious and personal tale. Working with Clover has been a real pleasure as they truly understood the scope of the story and how Ismael Hernandez and I wanted this narrative to unfold for the reader.”
Andy, whose parents mysteriously disappeared years ago before he was adopted. A turn of events leads Andy to a new school in the countryside, where he unexpectedly comes across a haunted suit of armor and its spectral guardian, Sir William. When Andy is attacked by the same mysterious creature that claimed the life of his adoptive parents’ biological son, Sir William and the armor come to his aid. However, it becomes apparent that the creature was summoned by someone with sinister intentions, willing to do anything to obtain control over the armor.
Sir William takes on the responsibility of training Andy to wield the armor effectively. Together, they must not only combat the other grotesque creatures summoned by the enigmatic antagonist but also prepare for the impending return of a perilous otherworldly being. This formidable entity seeks to claim the suit of armor for its own kind.
As Andy faces these increasingly horrifying monsters, he will need to dig deep within himself to find the strength to conquer his own inner demons and save the Earth. But the mystery surrounding this tale extends far beyond Andy and his newfound armor…
