Antarctica: Top Cow Productions Invites Readers to Explore the Possibilities Beyond One’s World in New Series
Top Cow Productions has announced a new series titled Antarctica. The new sci-fi adventure series comes from Simon Birks and Willi Roberts looks to blend sci-fi juggernauts with Stargate and His Dark Materials to deliver an emotionally charged narrative that is sure to pull readers in.
The series saw its beginning at Top Cow Productions as a short story within the pages of Stairway Anthology and now award-winning screenwriter Birks looks to expand the universe created within that story as we meet a young engineer named Hannah who finds herself alone after her father fails to return to the Antarctic research station.
Top Cow Productions’ description of Antarctica reads:
“Conceptualized and written by award-winning screenwriter Simon Birks, Antarctica follows the journey of a young engineer named Hannah, whose life imploded the day her father failed to return from the secretive Smith-Petersen Research Station in Antarctica. Alone and on the street, she’s at her lowest ebb when a friend offers help. Retrained as an engineer, Hannah secures a job at the same Antarctic station to search for her father and stumbles headfirst into a conspiracy that threatens everything she’s ever believed.”
Birks shared his excitement to share the adventure they created, saying:
“Antarctica takes no prisoners, and I’m excited to share our adventure with the readers. Willi and I have created something exceptional; an incredible experience full of unique twists and turns to keep everyone guessing right up until the end.”
Roberts added:
“Since Antarctica explores the themes of loss, identity, and sacrifice, Roberts knew he had a lot of work ahead of him. Because the story is science-fiction, emotional and mature, I had to visualize a reality where both the characters and readers can accept that another world exists. Everything lined up and Simon’s scripts inspired my art and my art, his scripts.”
Antarctica #1 will be available at your favorite local comic shop and digitally on July 12, 2023, and will feature cover art by Roberts with a variant cover by Lyndon White.
