At New York Comic Con 2025, Marvel dropped a bombshell during the Spider-Man and His Venomous Friends panel — DEATH SPIRAL, a brand-new crossover event that throws Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage into a brutal collision course starting this February.
The saga kicks off with AMAZING SPIDER-MAN/VENOM: DEATH SPIRAL #1, a one-shot that sets the stage for chaos before the story rips through the pages of Amazing Spider-Man and Venom through April.
An All-Star Creative Team
The event brings together three powerhouse writers — Joe Kelly (Amazing Spider-Man), Al Ewing (Venom), and Charles Soule (Eddie Brock: Carnage) — alongside top-tier artists Ed McGuinness, Jesús Saíz, and Carlos Gómez.
During the NYCC panel, the trio joined Executive Editor Nick Lowe, Senior Editor Jordan D. White, and Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski to unpack how recent storylines — from Spider-Man’s cosmic adventures to Mary Jane’s shocking bond with Venom and Eddie Brock’s fusion with Carnage — spiral into this deadly new chapter.
At the center of it all stands TORMENT, a terrifying new villain with a vendetta against Peter Parker and anyone tied to him. The result: a symbiote-fueled death match where not everyone will make it out alive.
DEATH SPIRAL – PART ONE
The crossover begins with a pulse-pounding one-shot by Kelly, Ewing, and Soule, with art by Saíz — a perfect entry point for new readers and longtime fans alike. A mysterious new killer is targeting Spider-Man, Venom, and everyone in their orbit. But what dark secret has Carnage uncovered, and how does it tie back to Peter Parker?
The chaos continues in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #23–27 and VENOM #255–257.
The Creators Tease the Madness
“One of the wildest times in Spider and Symbiote history revs into high gear with this killer crossover!” teased Spider-Editor Nick Lowe. “Not only will readers see Peter Parker learn that Mary Jane is bonded with one of his greatest enemies, but Eddie Brock has become one with the deadliest symbiote of all — Carnage. And just when things couldn’t get worse, they’ll face something even more terrifying — TORMENT. No one is safe.”
Writer Charles Soule added,
“Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, Mary Jane — they’re like a twisted family with a ton of history. There’s real emotional energy there, and this event tears it all apart.”
Joe Kelly couldn’t resist adding with a grin,
“And then we needed a serial killer.”
The Final Web
With a story packed full of personal stakes, twisted villains, and symbiote chaos, DEATH SPIRAL promises to be one of the most explosive Marvel events of 2025.
