Ernie Reyes Jr. Interview – The Art of Cowabunga
Before getting his big break with roles in Red Sonja, Sidekicks, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, and Surf Ninjas, Ernie Reyes Jr. was always keeping busy in the gym, training in the martial arts with his father and his team “The West Coast Demo Team.”

I got the chance to sit down with Ernie and talk about what fuels his weird, how long he’s been training in martial arts, what inspired him to pursue a career as an actor, and more! We also chat about how being a stunt double on the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie led to a role in the sequel, which actor/actress he hasn’t worked with that he would like to, and what franchise he would want to be cast in.

In addition to his acting career spanning the big and small screens, Ernie has also done a lot of stunt work, including the aforementioned original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. He has also done motion capture stunt work in films such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland.
When Ernie is spending time in front of the camera, he is starting to spend a lot more time behind the camera, helping other people reach their creative dreams and goals. And when he is not spending time behind the camera, you can always find him either spending time with his wife and kids, or you are sure to find him training in the gym.
He will also occasionally make appearances at conventions, meeting up with fans, which he mentions that he really enjoys doing, as he is very thankful for all of the support he has received over the years.
